    Dear Dr. Christian,

Welcome to my college! I graduated from BC in June 1970, transferring and graduating from CSULA in 1971. I have nothing but admiration for the BC faculty, who prepared me well for my upper class work, and all the encouragement and guidance they and college administrators offered for me to succeed.

As a returning US Army Vietnam veteran, I was welcomed by all. In addition to my class work, I participated in extracurricular activities like student government that I served as ASB Vice President, as well Veterans Club, and Lamda Alpha Club. I loved football days, where the campus came alive in anticipation of the Renegades meeting and vanquishing our opponents before a sell out stadium. Later the student body would follow the magnificent marching band, as it would wind through the campus in celebration of another gridiron victory.

Later I served in municipal government in management. I met and married a BC transfer student. We had two daughters. In 1990 I was appointed to fill an vacancy and elected the next year, to serve on the Governing Board of Chaffey CCD. I am on the board currently, with the distinction of being the longest serving trustee for one of California’s oldest community colleges. (We are commemorating our 130th year.) I was elected by my fellow trustees, to serve on the 26-member board of the national Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Similarly at the state level, I currently serve on the 21-member California Community College Trustees (CCCT) Board. On my local board I have served in numerous officer positions, including president.

Again, congratulations on your appointment. Welcome to the BC Family.

    Best Wishes,
