Assemblywoman Shannon Grove and the Bakersfield College Renegades
Six members of the state champion Bakersfield College Renegades football team traveled to Sacramento yesterday to be recognized at the state capitol by Assemblywoman Shannon Grove for their triumphant victory over City College of San Francisco in the championship game last December.
Bakersfield College was represented by coach Jeff Chudy and student athletes Clint Carter, Chris Hannible, Brandon Sarabia, Joey Stuart, John Oglesby, and Grant Campbell.
In a press release, Assemblywoman Grove said: “I could not be more proud of these young men. Their hard work and sportsmanship on and off the field are an inspiration to us all. Kern County has been very well represented by the players, coaches and staff of Bakersfield College.”
During the presentation, the 80 member State Assembly broke into applause as Grove recognized player Clint Carter’s service as a veteran who served four years with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan.
