(Note: this blog post is about the annual Alumni BBQ, but really the evening was a doubleheader for me — after going to the BBQ, I rushed downtown to make the Kern County Black Chamber Annual Gala and Dinner, which needs a blog post all its own.)
Btw, if you are a Renegade alum plz make contact with Angie Paquette our new Director for Alum Relations in the BC Foundation. You can reach her at email@example.com. BC is counting on you to help our future Renegades. The tradition of excellence, learning and caring must continue!
The Bakersfield College Alumni Association celebrated its 60th Annual BC Alumni BBQ on September 18, 2014. It was hosted at Stramler Park and featured delicious steaks and barbecued chicken by student chefs from the Culinary Arts program. Salvadore Cruz, who was taking photos for me, said that it was honestly the best steak he had ever had in his life 🙂
The air was filled with fun and merriment as Faculty, alumni, and athletes enjoyed the beautiful weather and great food. After finishing their meals, many of the athletes enjoyed casual games of volleyball and soccer (a few students even took to playing “Keep Away” with a basketball).
Thank you Becky Whitson for organizing this annual alumni event. Of course, those of you who know Becky also know that she is unstoppable. She was there yesterday at the BC vs Pasadena City game in Pasadena supporting her cheer team as well as Renegade Football. BC won 28-3.

At the end of the BBQ, the crowd was treated to exciting performances by the BC Cheer Squad and the BC Drumline. Afterwards, the Bakersfield College Jazz Ensemble played out the cool summer night.
